After the aggression of a dog on a 5 year old child walking on the greenwayon the quay of Harcourt, the mayor of Thury-Harcourt-le-Hom (Calvados), Philippe Lagalle, decided to take a municipal decision of April 19, 2022.
In order to safeguard public health and reduce the risk of accidents on public roads and in the public and private areas of the municipality, it is important to regulate the movement of pets. Especially dogs that disturb public tranquility, “says the mayor of Thury-Harcourt-le-Hom.
Leashed animals
It is also in the best interests of the animal for the owner to do everything in his power to prevent them from becoming undesirable and to harm the cleanliness or safety and tranquility of other animals.
New panels have been placed in the commune, which oblige you to keep the dog on a leash.
The order states that all pets must be provided with a collar and a plaque indicating the names and addresses of the owners. They must be kept on a leash.
For so-called dangerous dogs, owners must keep them on a leash and muzzle them.
Otherwise, these animals will be considered to be in a state of straying, impoundment and a fine will be ordered.
No animals in the children’s parks
In addition, the decree states that pets, even if kept on a leash, are prohibited from accessing children’s playgrounds, cemetery, as well as all green spaces and athletes belonging to the municipality. Dogs are not allowed inside public and cultural buildings. «
It is also reminded that owners must use all means at their disposal to collect the droppings deposited by their animals themselves.
