The National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) has published a map showing the areas in France that are most favorable to tick-laying. We take stock for the Lorraine.
The risk is very high in most of the region
To develop its map, INRAE relied on data related to four factors: the climateIaltitudeIland use as well as the presence of hosts for their meals. The institute then assigned a tick-friendly habitat score (HSI, sau Habitat matching index).
It can be seen that across the country, the four departments of Lorraine have a score considered “very high” (this is between 0.73 and 1, ie the values the highest).
In detail for our region, the central part of the Meuse has a high density. In Meurthe et Mosellethis is mostly the region of Nancy who is affected by this phenomenon. In Mosellethe most abundant habitats are in the countries of Bitch and of Sarrebourg. Finally, this is the western part of the Vosges which is most concerned in the department.
