An increasingly difficult task because with the proliferation of variants the number of contaminants has exploded.
Some people have escaped the onset of the Covid pandemic. Several scientists want to study the profile and find a way to fight the virus.
A large study was launched a few months ago to convince us of the usefulness of such a database from a scientific point of view.
An international search team published an article in the journal Nature Immunology in October 2021 and launched a call for the identification and recruitment of Covid-resistant natural persons.
Difficulty recruiting participants
But it is not easy to find caregivers who can be scientifically helpful.
Because the profiles that interest researchers are those that have not been contaminated with Covid because they are resistant to Covid.
Some were cautious and well respected les gestes barrières. Others thought they escaped Covid, but in fact they were unknowingly infected and asymptomatic.
In addition, with the proliferation of variants and especially with Omicron which is highly contagious, more and more people have caught Covid and can no longer be part of the protocol.
Scientists are therefore looking for the few remaining individuals who may hold the key to ending the pandemic.
Among the hypotheses considered that prevented certain people from contracting Covid was the common cold that protected Covid from infection through specially developed cells. More people who are less likely to contract Covid will be protected over time.

But researchers are instead focusing on another theory: genetic immunity
“What we are looking for are potentially very rare genetic variants with a very large impact on the individual,” said András Spaan, a clinical microbiologist and researcher at Rockefeller University in New York, who is leading a research on genetic material. responsible for coronavirus resistance, such as the Washington Post report.

The international study has already managed to recruit 700 participants.
Researchers have been able to detect more than 5,000 people who are presented as potential immunized against coronavirus infection.
Hope for treatment
The study of genes and other biological traits of people who escaped Covid could help determine how the virus develops, as well as comment on the actual infection of humans.
And so if scientists are able to determine causes, it will be easier to design a targeted treatment to fight the virus and prevent it from entering the body and infecting it.
