As we know, between bad habits, teleworking and lack of time, many (too many) French people are sedentary. Last February, the National Agency for Food, Environment and Occupational Safety (Anses) published a shocking figure: “95% of the French adult population” is too sedentary. Second aggravating factor: our health system is certainly very effective in terms of healing… but much less in terms of prevention. And it is deteriorating at a high V rate, between a lack of caregivers, an aging population and an increase in chronic diseases.
The observation is therefore unappealable: it would be time for France to talk about prevention. The Actors of Prevention, an association that brings together professionals from all walks of life, phosphorus and has been campaigning for ten years to impose this issue. “Ten years ago, our white paper proposed as a first step to get children to do physical activity from primary school,” said Stéphanie Pistre, founder of Actors of Prevention, at a press conference on Thursday. We hadn’t been very ambitious, we were proposing a quarter of an hour a day … The re-elected president promises half an hour. It took ten years… but we’re thrilled! Another proposal of the association that was found in the program of Emmanuel Macron: complete and free health assessments at 25, 45 and 60 years.
Third reason to hope: Brigitte Bourguignon has become Minister of Health and Prevention. “This is a strong signal for us, prevention must be everyone’s concern,” said Thierry Doll, president of Active FNEAPL (National Federation of Physical, Sports and Leisure Businesses). As the Paris Olympics in 2024 prepare, some of the ideas behind this show to improve prevention came to fruition before being invited to life. Et 20 minutes selected four.
Create the “prevention oasis” in rural areas
“The goal is to make prevention attractive and accessible, especially in rural areas,” said Stephanie Pistre. On an image of “prevention oasis”, des terers-lieux that can be an answer to the problem of medical deserts. We would offer yoga classes, zumba, soft gym, screening, vaccination … More and more support for young parents to get advice on the first 1,000 days, face of the awareness on stroke when France is lagging behind in knowledge. It is also a place to live, where isolated people can be found. And so also a way to fight loneliness, which sometimes leads to psychological problems. Where can we imagine these oases of prevention? “We can start to find a space near the town hall, in a supermarket…”, she resumes.
Facilitate access to gyms
“The Anses study is alarming, but it does not confirm that other investigations are going in the same direction,” warns Thierry Doll. Covid-19 has only accentuated this sedentary lifestyle. But it will be difficult to get everyone back on track! »Proves evidence: gyms lost between 25 and 30% of customers. Pour it, reflecting in an innovative taxation for sports venues could be an interesting track. “In the form of a tax relief for the first subscription to a gym for students, for the precarious,” said the latter, who said he was in talks with the government. And who, from the tip of his lips, blows another idea: gyms can receive schoolchildren during off-peak hours.
Expand the Pass’Sport
Under the previous mandate, a device was precisely intended to encourage young people away from physical activity to return them to sport: the Pass’Sport. An envelope of 50 euros paid only to French people between 6 and 17 and who benefit either from the back-to-school allowance, or from the education allowance for the disabled child or from the allowance for disabled adults (between 16 and 18 years). “They were warned from the start: you can spend those 50 euros on a pair of Nike instead of going to sports,” said Thierry Doll. For now, it stops at 18, but we could extend it later. »
Second limit that could jump: this amount can be spent only in the associated sector, to join a football club, for example. Will a next version Extend the device on the distributed sum, on the beneficiary public and on the place where one can spend so that other young people, especially far from the sport, regain the taste of sweat, of the collective , effort and a smile?
Give clearer guidelines to the French
Many have in mind the requirement of 10,000 steps a day, but is that really enough? And for what age? Improving prevention could already go through clear, inclusive, age-appropriate communication campaigns so that everyone knows what is the minimum physical activity to stay healthy. “It would be important to have a framework and a spectrum of activity, which does not necessarily know, adapted to different times in life, for example during pregnancy,” says the founder of Actors of Prevention.
“Another track would be used for Activescore, on the Nutriscore model,” adds Thierry Doll. Depending on the age, the situation of the person, his job, he will be told to exercise this or that physical exercise for so long. If the legislature slows down any announcement at the moment, the new Minister of Prevention is expected at the turn.
