Tesla now offers automated real-time driving insurance in the United States. They use it to make vehicle sensors without the addition of material.
It has been several years since conduct-based insurance existed in France comme à foreigners. For this, the company generally provides to the customer a box to be plugged into the diagnostic socketwhich analyzes several parameters, such as acceleration power and frequency, among others.
Give them? Vary the insurance premium according to the driver’s driving behavior. Abrupt driving will then be more expensive because it is more prone to accidents. A similar offer is also being proposed by Tesla at the time.
An amount based on the conduct score
And at the company he was already proposing his own car insurance in California, it works in a completely standard way, like most offers offered elsewhere. But recently, and as our colleagues fromElectrekd’Elon Musk launches new formula based on real-time customer behavior.
Already proposed in October 2021 in Texas, it is now available in all states with knowledge Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon and Virginia. In California, on the other hand, the manufacturer does not use driving data, displaying the safety score only for educational purposes. In all states where the new offer is available, the amount of the fee varies directly depending on the style of conduct.
Several data, recorded directly due to the sensors in the vehicle are taken into account in the calculation of the driving score, which then has a direct impact on the amount of the contribution. Among them, the braking force, the speed in curves or the number of warnings indicating a risk of collision. According to ElectrekTesla says drivers deemed average can benefit from a 20-40% discount on their premium. Good drivers can save up to 60%.
The amount to be paid may vary each month, depending on the improvement or deterioration of the conduct. For example, the amount could increase from $ 97 to $ 130 if the score drops from $ 95 to $ 88.
If I don’t really know the impact of this offer on accidents, a previous study had already stated that driving a Tesla would be less dangerous than driving a Porsche Taycan. But care must also be taken not to generalize this finding to the whole automotive industry.
The device should be extended to other states, and could be proposed in other states, but no information has been evoked in this topic for now.
