Toulouse: a couple attacked in Corsica by wild pigs, their dog devoured before their eyes

Contacted by us, the couple wanted to witness the drama. On June 9, at the end of the day, in a van with a van set up on the west coast of the Insula de Beauté, towards the Gulf of Porto, the couple decided to stop at the Sevi Pass “to take some photos”. The scene will turn to horror when the pigs attack the chihuahua. “I don’t know why, but I had the reflex to detach one of the dogs that escaped in the bush, but I didn’t have time for the other,” said Didier, very moved.

“It was chaos”

The couple’s chihuahua, named after 8-and-a-half-year-old Chica, was devoured alive by pigs in front of its owners. “Frankly, it was Walking Dead, they were agglutinated on the dog, it was chaos,” Nadine said cowardly, struggling to hide her sadness. In shock and emotion, the two 60-year-olds return to their truck parked below. “I had lost my glasses, no more shoes, no laptop, we were in a sorry state, injured everywhere,” described the dog’s owner. They then go to a nearby doctor on duty where they receive a tetanus and antibiotic vaccine reminder. Then they spend the night camping “to wash” and shorten their vacation by leaving for the mainland the next day.

Signs to alert

Back in the suburbs of Toulouse, Nadine is haunted by the sound of these animals devouring her dog, and she can’t help but rehearse the looping scene, causing tears and anxiety. She also suffers a lot due to a major wound behind the knee that requires the regular passage of a nurse. “If I agree to tell all this, it’s to alert people. Instead of my dog, imagine if it was a child. I’ve been going there a dozen times, we cross paths. “Free pigs, never in my life, would I have thought that such a thing could happen to me,” she insists.

However, the couple filed a complaint with the gendarmerie on Tuesday and took steps to have their injuries reported by a medical examiner. “What I find deplorable is that we are almost told that it is our fault and that nothing can be done,” laments Didier, who is convinced that these pigs belong to someone. a.

For his wife, signs indicating the presence of free pigs and the behavior to be adopted in their presence could be installed to avoid this kind of drama. She insists that during research, she discovered that this was not the first time people had been the target of such attacks. In early January, an 18-year-old man was injured by several pigs while strolling in northeastern Corsica. He had to be hospitalized due to his injuries.
