World Championships – 100m freestyle: Maxime Grousset beaten to the touch by David Popovici

It came to nothing. At touch. A few seconds before seeing Analia Pigrée take bronze in the 50 m backstroke, Maxime Grousset did not go far from the first tricolor world title in the 100 m freestyle this Wednesday in the Budapest Basin. The New Caledonian (47”64) failed in second place, behind prodigy David Popovici (47”58). But what a second place. At the age of 23, he won his first individual world medal. And takes a date for the future and Paris 2024, like Popovici who confirmed his status as a phenomenon.
