Yuki Tsunoda remains at Alpha Tauri in 2023

Le Japonais Yuki Tsunoda will continue with the Alpha Tauri stable in 2023, the italienne firm announced on ses réseaux sociaux. Après deux premières saisons en Formule 1, le pilote de 22 and convinced ses dirientes de conserver au terme de cette saison 2022.

« Yuki is a très talented pilot et a beaucoup progresé cette saison. The pace he has shown recently is clear evidence of the progression curve that has proven he deserves a place in F1. […] A pilot needs three years to fully familiarize himself with Formula 1, so I’m content that he’s got the time to show his potential », said Franz Tost, le patron de l’écurie italienne.

Le Nippon a lui tenu à « remercier chaleureusement Red Bull, Honda and the Scuderia AlphaTauri for giving me the opportunity to drive in F1. Having moved to Italy last year to be more close to the factory, I feel very much part of the team and I am happy to be able to continue running with them in 2023. »

It remains now to know who accompanied the Japanese pilot in the second baquet d’Alpha Tauri. Also under contract jusqu’en 2023 with the écurie transalpine, le Français Pierre Gasly would have activated courtisé par Alpine en vue de la saison prochaine, potentially leaving a vacant seat in the second car.
